It Will Be Done
“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
— Mark 11:22-24
Gracious Lord Jesus, my friend and my King,
The object of my faith when I am praying about a seemingly impossible difficulty is God. My faith is placed specifically outside of me and into the immutable, eternal, omnipotent One. Once I have placed what I have heard from God into His hands in faith, I am to believe that it will happen as He has said. It will be done. I need not know how or when. I am only to believe without doubt that what God has declared will happen. I am to continue asking in prayer, believing I have received it, knowing it will be done.
This isn't a name-it-and-claim-it proposition. This is about doing what the Father has said. Jesus, you only did what you saw the Father doing, "the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing." (John 5:19). Therefore as I pray, I am praying not about what I want by myself. I am praying about what the Father wants. And my faith isn't in me, or in how hard I pray, or in how much I believe. My faith is in God and I am believing for what He has already declared He will do.
Gracious Lord, you have shown me a glimpse and given multiple confirmations of what You want to do. I choose today to believe. I choose today to not doubt in my heart but to believe that what You have said will happen and it will be done. I choose today to believe with my faith firmly placed in You, O God, that I have received it. It will be done because You have said so.
— In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen!
